Random String Generator
Create random strings for tokens, test data, nonces and identifiers. Characters are picked uniformly with the browser's cryptographically secure random number generator.
62 possible characters · 191 bits of entropy each (very strong)
Characters are chosen with crypto.getRandomValues using rejection sampling, so every character is equally likely. Nothing is stored or sent.
How to generate random strings
- Set the length and how many strings you need.
- Choose the character sets, or type a custom alphabet.
- Click Generate.
- Copy one string or the whole list.
Frequently asked questions
Are the strings truly random?
They use crypto.getRandomValues, the same source browsers use for encryption keys, with rejection sampling so every character is equally likely.
How long should a secret token be?
Aim for at least 128 bits of entropy. With 62 alphanumeric characters, that is 22 characters. The tool shows the entropy of your settings.
