UUID Generator
Generate random version 4 UUIDs, or version 7 UUIDs that sort by creation time and work well as database keys. Values come from crypto.getRandomValues and are never sent anywhere.
Generated with crypto.randomUUID(). Nothing is stored or sent. The nil UUID is 00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000.

Frequently asked questions
Can two v4 UUIDs collide?
Theoretically, but a v4 UUID has 122 random bits. You would need to generate about 2.7 quintillion UUIDs for a 50% chance of a single collision.
When should I use UUID v7?
When IDs are used as database primary keys. v7 starts with a millisecond timestamp, so new rows are inserted in order, which keeps B-tree indexes efficient. It reveals the creation time, so use v4 if that matters.
